What's the difference between a home page and a
website?
These terms are used interchangeable.
Normally a home page is a fixed page of information about your
company. You may be able to modify the information on this page
within limits. However, your page will be a copy of another
company's page with just the information changed. This is analogous
to a tract home builder. The homebuyer can choose from a variety of
styles but can't change the blueprint. At Matrix WebDesign, we
design custom web pages. This is analogous to the architect and the
home builder working together. The websites we design are purely
custom.
What is a web address?
A web address, otherwise known
a Domain Name, is the actual URL used by Internet browers to access
your website.
How
do I receive E-mail?
There are two ways you might
want to receive e-mail from your site: (1) forwarded to your current
ISP e-mail address and (2) an allies E-mail address pointed to your
already existing E-mail address
What's the difference between a dial-up
connection and a website?
The dial-up connection is through an
ISP. This is you connection to the Internet not a website. The
website is actual data stored on a hard disk on a computer located
on the Internet. This connection may make many bends and turns
before it finds the exact computer where your site is
located.
Do I need to cancel my current Internet Service
Provider (ISP)?
Not necessarily.
Unfortunately, some services do not allow you to pick-up mail at
another website other than the services website. An example is
AOL.
I already have a website. Why do I need another
one?
The functionality and business
presence of our current site may not be projecting the image that
you desire. Using "template-based" website construction tools, you
site probably looks like a cookie-cutter site. This projects the
image that you will treat everyone as a number and not as
individuals with varying needs. Once your custom website is on-line,
you may want to eliminate your current website or point people to
your new website.
How do people find my website?
People on the Internet find
your site using "search engines" and keywords. These are important
items which should not be overlooked in any proper website design.
You are limited in the number of keywords that may be associated
with your site. We will assist you in choosing keywords for your
custom website. Matrix Webdesign can also register your keywords or
a nominal fee.
Doesn't a custom website cost a lot of
money?
Yes, it can. However, Matrix
Webdesign can construct a high quality website for a fraction of
what other companies may charge because of our unique approach to
